Privacy Policy
Fineshot does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no Fineshot servers. Everything you do in the app stays on your device unless you choose to share it.
Who we are
Fineshot is an iPhone and iPad app for annotating, redacting, and framing screenshots. It is made by Takayuki Hoffman, an independent developer. Contact: [email protected].
What the app does with your images
Images you import from Photos, Files, the clipboard, or the share sheet are stored in Fineshot's private storage on your device so you can reopen and re-edit them. Text recognition and QR-code detection run entirely on your device using Apple's built-in Vision framework. No image, text, or annotation is ever uploaded anywhere by Fineshot.
When you export, save to Photos, copy, or share a result, the file goes only where you send it. Deleting a project in Fineshot, or deleting the app, removes its data from your device. Your device's normal iCloud or computer backup may include Fineshot's data, under Apple's terms.
Permissions
- Photos. Fineshot asks for add-only access so it can save finished images to your library. Picking an image uses the system photo picker, which does not give Fineshot access to your library.
- Files. Opening and saving files uses the system document picker; Fineshot only receives the files you choose.
- Clipboard. "Paste image" reads the clipboard only when you tap it. iOS shows its standard paste notice.
Fineshot does not use your location, camera, microphone, contacts, or any device identifiers.
Purchases
Fineshot Pro is a one-time purchase handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. Apple processes the payment and shares no payment or personal information with Fineshot. The app keeps a record that Pro is unlocked on your device so it works offline. Purchases can be restored on any device signed in to the same Apple Account.
Diagnostics
iOS may provide the app with anonymous performance and crash reports through Apple's MetricKit. Fineshot stores a small number of these on your device only. They contain app and system version numbers and performance metrics; they never contain your images, text, or file names. Nothing is sent to us automatically. If you choose Share diagnostics in Settings, the app prepares a file you can review and send to us yourself.
Children
Fineshot is not directed at children under 13 and, as described above, collects no personal information from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new effective date. Because the app does not communicate with any server, a change in this policy can only reflect a change in a future version of the app.
